Seoul Trail 4-1 Course – Daemosan, Guryongsan, Nugin Suwon (NSW) and Yangjae Citizen’s Forest (YJF)

December 11, 2017 10:30 ~15:30 Hour. Total distance was 10.3km including 7.2km to NSW and 3.2km to YJF and taking a total five and half an hour including break. Lowest temperature was -7.0 OC and highest temperature -2.5 OC which was cold even at daytime.

Temperature was remarkably and suddenly dropped from the morning in relation with Yesterday’s snow, 4.1mm. When I came out home in the morning, I felt very chilly and cold outside, provably cold weather started in the morning. I prepared Eisen and Walking Stick taking into account possible difficult and hard to walk Trail Course today due to ice or freezed snow.

The 4-1 Course was to continuously climb up the Hill at beginning and downhill afterward in general. There were several area freezing and slippery which I could not walk without Eisen. While it was most times on the normal pass that I could walk without Eisen. Therefore I changed 4~5 times fixed and later removed Eisen on my shoe not only which cause finger getting chilly but also became more and more hard to change Eisen several times under cold weather. I was getting irritated for these change and imagined or thought there would be possible solution to do these change more easily without removing the gloves. But I took many phots on the Course without removing the gloves because there was special cloth sticked on index finger which can transmit human heat to mobile phone screen, no need to remove the gloves for taking a photo.

When I exited Gate 6 at Suseo Station in Line No 3, it was severely cold and windy outside. I moved to Course Staring Point behind Bus Stop and checked 4-1 Course information before starting to climb up Daemosan Mountain (293m). I then slowly climbed up the Daemosan at 10:30 hour in the morning. There was Daemosan Peak junction at Course Sign (CS) 6km to Nungin Sunwon (NSW), religious organization for promoting and educating Buddhism to the people. The Course was slightly downhill after the Junction and climbed up again the hill after passing 1st Mineral Water Spring. The Course was to downhill after left turning at CS 4.39km to SNW and further downhill to reach 2nd Mineral Water Spring. The Course was to meet three way junction without CS or red ribbon and to face bigger oak tree in the middle of three way junction. You should turn right at the junction and met Buguksa after some more downhill where CS 3.9km to NSW. When you climb up some more, you would meet Check Point for prevention from possible mountain Fire. You could started to downhill again and meet CS 2.3km to NSW and reach NSW after passing CS 1.5km to NSW where one of biggest Buddha statue in the world behind the NSW. The CS was to change destination to Yangjae Citizen’s Forest (YJF) from NSW saying as 3.18km to YJF. You would meet somewhat steep wooden stairs and further uphill to CS 2.8km to YJF. The Course was to downhill from Guryong Mountain (306m) after the CS and eventually reaches Seongnam Daero after four and half an hour from the Start. The Course was to extend Yangjae Stream as soon as crossing pedestrian Overpass. You could walk the road at Yangjae Stream and smoothly exited to YJF when you walked about half an hour from joining to Seongnam Daero. When you cross the Maiheon Road after YJF, you would meet destination, Course 4-1 today.
