Korea's Representative Tteokbokki and Popular Menu

Korea's most popular tteokbokki menu includes traditional gochujang tteokbokki, as well as various fusion menus such as the recently popular rose tteokbokki and jjajang tteokbokki. The main popular menu items are as follows.

1. Gochujang Tteokbokki (Gochujang Tteokbokki): This is the most classic and common form of tteokbokki, characterized by its sweet and spicy gochujang (red pepper paste) seasoning. The most common type is the soup-based tteokbokki, which features a generous amount of broth and is often accompanied by fish cakes, boiled eggs, and green onions.

2. Rose Tteokbokki (Rosé Tteokbokki): This dish has been gaining immense popularity in recent years. It's made by mixing gochujang sauce with cream sauce or milk, creating a smooth and savory flavor. Sausage and other ingredients are also added.

3. Jeukseok Tteokbokki (Instant Tteokbokki): This type of tteokbokki is cooked and eaten right at the table. It is characterized by a variety of ingredients such as ramen, chewy noodles, dumplings, and fried food.

4. Oil Tteokbokki (Gireum Tteokbokki): Stir-fried in oil, without broth, this dish is a famous specialty of Tongin Market in Seoul. Seasoned with gochujang or soy sauce, it offers a chewy texture.

5. Jjajang Tteokbokki (Jjajang Tteokbokki): Tteokbokki made with jjajang sauce instead of gochujang. Its sweet and salty taste makes it popular with children.

6. Cheese Tteokbokki (Cheese Tteokbokki): This dish features melted mozzarella cheese on top of regular tteokbokki. It neutralizes the spiciness and adds a savory flavor.

7. Gungjung Tteokbokki (Gungjung Tteokbokki): This royal dish, enjoyed before gochujang became widespread, is made with a soy sauce-based sauce, beef, and various vegetables. Its mild, yet sophisticated flavor is a hallmark.

8. Others: In addition to this, various fusion menus such as curry tteokbokki, mala tteokbokki, and seafood tteokbokki continue to appear and gain popularity.
